According to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, a little over 4 million tons have been transported since the beginning of the current season Sunflower oil sold out of the country, accounting for 89% of the expected shipping rate for 2022/23. According to the forecasts of the Ukrainian consultant, Ukraine should turn over about 500 thousand tons of product in the summer months.
Note that exporting from Sunflower oil in land transport was in high demand this season and accounted for up to a quarter of total sales. The focus of deliveries has shifted to the ports of the Danube region in recent months, and in March 2023 the turnover has reached its peak.
At the beginning of the current agricultural year, it became known that plans for the construction of an oil pipeline to Poland, capable of transporting 2 million tons of vegetable oil per year, became known. But now it is becoming clear that the economic feasibility of such a project raises many questions, since the main importers of Ukrainian oil are in Asia and it can be logistically unprofitable to export oil through northern European ports.
