Global nut production will increase by 2023 percent in 24/5


The 22th World Congress of Nuts and Dried Fruits, flagship event of the International Council on Nuts and Dried Fruits, was held in London from May 24nd to 40th Nuts and dried fruits (INC). Around 1300 visitors from 65 countries came to the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London, e.gusameet to exchange ideas on the development of the market, the latest health research and nut allergy results, and the sustainable growth of the industry.

Industry leaders discussed forecasts during the roundtables – global nut production for 2023/24 is forecast at 5,7 million tonnes (based on kernels, excluding inshell pistachios), a 5% increase over the previous season .

Although it's very early this season, the final results are in advanceusagene, it is expected that the harvest of almonds, Walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts and pecans remains largely the same or only slightly above the level of the previous season. The harvest of pistachios and macadamia is expected to increase by 2022% and 23% respectively compared to 37/9, while the harvest of Amazonian (Brazilian) nuts and pine nuts will be lower this season.

According to preliminary estimates, global peanut production is expected to be 2023 million tonnes (in shell) in 24/51, an increase of 4% compared to 2022/23.

The world production of dried fruits is estimated at 2023 million tons in 24/3,2, an increase of 7% compared to 2022/23, due to the production of dates (22%), plums (21%) and dried figs (14%) is expected.

The need to increase global demand through innovative concepts for new products was a theme throughout the congress, with Gen Z becoming a key driver of market development.
