According to calculations by the “APK-Inform” agency, Ukraine delivered about 1 thousand tons of sunflowers to foreign markets in the period from September 2023, 14 to April 2024, 286,3. It was found that oilseed exports fell by 84% to the level of the same period last season.
According to experts, 52,4 thousand tons of seeds were shipped abroad in March - this is the second monthly result since the beginning of the current agricultural year. During the reporting period, deliveries increased mainly to Bulgaria (by 3,7 times) and Turkey (by 30%).
In the first 2 weeks of April, sales are estimated at 36,3 thousand tons, compared to 27 thousand tons in the same period of 2023.
According to “APK-Inform” analyst Svetlana Kirichok, about 250-300 thousand tons of sunflowers could be exported from Ukraine by the end of the current season.
“It is expected that against the background of the seasonal depletion of stocks of this oilseed not only in Ukraine, but also in Europe, the demand for Ukrainian sunflowers from the EU will continue to increase, but the more attractive price level of the domestic market, as well as the difficulties in obtaining them of licenses for shipping to Bulgaria, for example, will slow down this trend,” she added.
