Analysts have raised forecasts for the EU wheat harvest and lowered forecasts for other grains

In the May Stratégie Grains report, the forecast for EU wheat production in 2023/24 was increased by 1,1 million tonnes compared to the previously mentioned values – to 130 million tonnes (in 2022/23 it was 125,2 million tons harvested).

Experts point to the prospects for high yields in most countries except Spain.

In addition, the forecast for the gross coverage of Barley in the EU was reduced by 1,7 million tons to 49,9 million tons (51,2 million tons - the season before), mainly due to the expected fall in production in Spain, of which 28,7 (27,7) million tons in winter , in the summer 21,3 (23,5) million tons.

Due to the cold and wet weather hampering sowing, particularly in central and south-eastern Europe, the forecast for corn production has been reduced by 0,6 million tons to 62,1 million tons, which could potentially negatively impact the yield outlook.
