The Ministry of Municipal Development, Territories and Infrastructure has decided to temporarily suspend the requirement for permits for Polish transport companies transporting to Ukraine from any country of the European Union. This is reported by the press-service of the Ukrainian department.
The decision is intended to resolve the situation with the blocking of the «Yagodin-Dorogus» checkpoint by Polish transport companies and to meet one of the main claims of the strikers, namely the imposition of penalties for the lack of permits for transport to Ukraine from third countries of the EU.
“Our position is clear: such transports do not fall under the Agreement between Ukraine and the EU on freight transport and are not bilateral, and accordingly require permits. We have now sent a letter to the EU Commission for clarification and are currently suspending the imposition of fines. Separately I will emphasize: since the beginning of this year Ukrtransferssicherheit made only 4 such decrees for Polish carriers,” said Alexander Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine – Minister of Municipal Development, Territories and Infrastructure.
Thus, from May 8, Polish transport companies can carry out transports from any country of the European Union to Ukraine without the appropriate permits and requirements for environmental standards of vehicles.
“Now more than 5.000 trucks cannot cross our largest checkpoint. It is impossible to distribute the flow of cargo in conditions of limited capacity and blockade of seaports. We are grateful to our Polish friends for their constant support in the fight against the aggressor and we look forward to further dialogue to unlock the border. We have taken the first step, we are waiting for a step to meet," stressed Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Derkach.
According to the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on the transportation of goods, bilateral and transit transportation does not fall under the requirement for permits.
We will remind, earlier Polish carriers blocked the road in the direction of a checkpoint «Yagodin - Dorogusk».
