The EU Commission calls on Poland to lift the ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products

The Polish government has received a letter from the European Commission asking it to lift the indefinite ban on imports of certain agricultural products from Ukraine. This was announced by Polish Agriculture Minister Czeslaw Seckerski at a press conference after a meeting with representatives of the All-Polish Association of Farmers and Agricultural Unions on January 4, reports cenyrolnicze.pl.

“There is a growing risk of a return to the grain crisis of a year ago. The European Commission is demanding that Poland lift the embargo on agricultural products from Ukraine, while Polish farmers are worried about whether Ukrainian grain will really arrive only in transit in the new year,” the minister said.

At the same time, C. Seckerski emphasized that the decree on the unilateral closure of the Polish-Ukrainian border is in force despite the EU's demand to resume imports.

“This embargo is indefinite. We believe we already have evidence of this. Precisely because we have received a letter from the European Commission calling for the embargo to be lifted,” he said.
