Ukraine will not discuss changes to “visa freedom in transport” with the EU

Ukraine is ready to cooperate with Poland, for exampleusato work to solve the problem of Polish protesters blocking the border, but will not discuss changes to the agreement on the liberalization of freight transport between Ukraine and the EU (the so-called “visa-free transport”). This was stated during the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine - Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov - with Polish Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk on November 9, the press service of the Ministry of Reconstruction reported.

As it was noted, as a result of the blockade of the border by Polish demonstrators blocked on both sides are already more than 20 thousand vehicles. This causes losses not only to the economy of Ukraine or Poland, but also to other countries that cannot transport goods and violate their contractual obligations.

During the meeting it was emphasized that Ukraine respects the right to protest and is ready for constructive dialogue to resolve the situation. At the same time, the blockade of the border by Polish protesters is disrupting logistics routes, which is already impacting the economies of both Ukraine and the European Union.

“The most important thing is that no changes or termination of the freight transport agreement between Ukraine and the European Union are being discussed. In return, the Ministry of Municipal, Territorial and Infrastructure Development is ready to help Polish colleagues resolve the situation regarding the blockade of the border, provide all relevant explanations and, if necessary, hold meetings,” – it says of the message.
