Ukraine offers Poland to introduce controls on exports of agricultural products

Ukraine has proposed to Poland to introduce a mechanism for checking exports of agricultural products in bilateral trade. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal at a meeting with his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk on January 22 in Kiev, according to the communications department of the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers.

During the meeting, the heads of government discussed in particular the issue of the unhindered movement of goods across the common border.

“We believe that the problem has been resolved so far, the border is no longer blocked and joint work is producing results. Ukraine has proposed a mechanism to verify exports of agricultural products in line with the European Commission's decision. This mechanism already works effectively with Romania and Bulgaria, and we propose to use it in our mutually beneficial relations,” Shmygal said.

Among other things, the sides also discussed the introduction of joint border controls and the modernization of border control posts. In particular, the establishment of four new border crossing points in addition to the existing fourteen.
