Transporters from another country could block the border with Ukraine

The Association of Slovak Road Transporters (UNAS) threatens to block Ukrainian freight forwarders from crossing the border from the Slovak side if the European Commission does not return the issuance of trade permits for transport within the European Union. This was stated by the head of UNAS Stanislav skala, as the Slovak edition of Pravda reported on November 15.

“If the European Transport Commission does not return the permit system for Ukrainian freight forwarders, UNAS is ready to immediately support Polish freight forwarders at the border and block the border crossing for Ukrainian freight forwarders from the Slovak side,” skala said.

In addition, the organization he leads asked the Slovakian Ministry of Transport to demand that the European Commission return the permits for Ukrainian air carriers.

For its part, the ministry said it was ready to bring the solution to the problem to the EU level.

“There is now an EU-wide agreement that no permits will be needed until June 30, 2024. At the beginning of December, the EU Council of Ministers will meet in Brussels, where the Slovak Transport Minister will propose to reconsider this decision. A massive increase in the number of transports across the European Union by Ukrainian transport companies is taking place at the expense of European transport companies, which has a negative impact on the economy of the European Union,” said the Ministry of Transport.
