There is less than a month left before sowing soybeans, but it is not yet known how large the area under cultivation for this crop will be - 2 or 2,2 million hectares. This was said by the head of business development of Lidea Seeds Ukraine Volodymyr Gavrylyuk during the “Soybean Club discussion”.
“We are still in a mode of uncertainty on this matter. This situation does not contribute to the stability of the market because seed companies cannot meet the demand for seeds. Over the last two seasons we have seen almost frenzied demand for soybean seed. To date, the company has already contracted the seeds that have not yet been sold. That means there is almost nothing left,” says Volodymyr Gavrilyuk.
He adds that Lidea Seeds Ukraine has opportunities for additional deliveries of soybean seeds within the framework of the partnership with the Danube Soy Association. The company can still supply elite or first propagation seeds in the next week if a request for elite or first propagation seeds is received from farmers. This does not involve large quantities of seeds, but rather an area of up to 500 hectares.
