At the end of the first half of the 2023/24 season, China imported from Kazakhstan 2,1 thousand tons of rapeseed meal (1,1 thousand tons in the same period of the 2022/23 marketing year) and 0,7 thousand tons of sunflower meal (purchases were not made). These data were announced by the Executive Director of the National Association of Oilseed Processors Republic of Kazakhstan Alexander Yashkov. He emphasized that no sales in this direction were made in the 2021/22 financial year.
“After three failed seasons, Kazakhstan is gradually starting to increase the supply of high-protein feed – flour and cakes – to China,” – said the specialist.
He also pointed out that the peak of exports of Kazakh flour to China was reached in the 2019/20 season, when almost 18,5 thousand tons of these products were sold to the Kingdom of Heaven.
“The main buyer of Kazakh vegetable flour for 6 months of the current season is Uzbekistan with a share of 41%, in second place – the EU countries with a share of 21%, in third place – Tajikistan with a share of 15%, followed by Iran with 14%. China's share of imports of these products is 4% compared to 1% for the entire 2022/23 marketing year,” added Yashkov.
