IGC expects the global sunflower harvest to increase in the 2024/25 marketing year

Experts at the International Grains Council (IGC) expect global sunflower production to reach around 2024 million tonnes in the 25/58,5 season. According to experts, the volume of oilseed harvest will increase by 1% compared to last year - from 57,9 million tons.

According to experts, the increase will be due to an increase in crop yields, although global cultivated areas will decrease by around 2% due to low export prices for sunflowers.

Russia is expected to harvest the largest yield of sunflower seeds in the next agricultural year - 17,4 million tons compared to 17,6 million tons in the 2023/24 marketing year.

Ukraine follows with 16,2 million tonnes (16,5 million tonnes in the 2023/24 marketing year). EU countries complete the top three with 10,5 million tonnes (10,2 million tonnes).

According to IGC estimates, Argentina (4,4 million tonnes in the 2024/25 marketing year; 4 million tonnes in the 2023/24 marketing year), China (2,3 million tonnes; 2,3 million tonnes), Turkey (1,8 million tonnes; 1,6 million tonnes), Kazakhstan (1,3 million tonnes; 1,2 million tonnes) and the USA (1,1 million tons; 1 million tons) are among the top producers.
