"German farmers have bet on oil by reducing the areas under a number of crops," explain industry experts.
For example, the area under spring grains decreased by 11% per year to 925,6 thousand hectares.
«Among wheat – 28,8 thousand hectares (-45%), barley – 329,3 thousand hectares (-11%), corn – 429,3 thousand hectares (-6%), oats – 138,6 thousand hectares (- 13%),” the statement said.
In addition, 2,9 million hectares (-1% per year) were sown with winter wheat, 1,3 million hectares with winter barley (+ 5%) and other cereals (including rye) with 611,4 thousand hectares (+ 4%).
