Oilseed production in the European Union could reach about 2024 million tons in the 25/32,64 season, up from 33,015 million tons in the 2023/24 marketing year, experts at the US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service predict. The experts point out that the decline will be due to a possible reduction in oilseed yields in the coming agricultural year.
At the same time, EU vegetable oil production is expected to increase from 18,48 million tonnes to 18,773 million tonnes. According to experts, sunflower and olive oil will provide growth in indicators, while rapeseed oil production is likely to decline. The experts also point out the trend that domestic consumption of oils in Europe is increasing as a result of population growth in the region.
Meal production is expected to decline from 31,132 million tonnes to 31,043 million tonnes, although experts expect higher demand from the livestock sector to be met by coarse grains.
