EU cuts grain imports by 23 percent this season


From the start of the current season to March 27, EU countries have 25,0 million tons Grains introduced, which is 23% less than in the same period last season.

Like last season, the EU imports Wheat, Barley and Corn mainly from Ukraine. This season, Ukraine supplied 5,1 million tons of common wheat or 70% of all imports of this crop, 9,1 million tons of corn (67%) and 0,7 million tons (48%) of barley. The largest supplier of durum wheat is Turkey with 700,2 thousand tons (34%).

Russia is one of the main suppliers of wheat, barley, rye and sorghum to the European Union. From the beginning of the current season to March 27, 437.100 tons of durum wheat, 318.700 tons of common wheat, 273.000 tons of corn, 181.500 tons of rye, 59.100 tons of barley and 2.300 tons of sorghum were imported from Russia into the EU.
