Brazil's soybean harvest is 69 percent complete

As of March 21, Brazilian farmers had completed the soybean harvest at 69% of plan, according to data from consultancy AgRural. During the week, field work in the country progressed by 6%, but the pace of the harvest campaign is 1% behind that of the same date last year.

According to experts, threshing is currently actively taking place in the Matopiba region and in the southernmost state of Brazil - Rio Grande do Sul.

In addition, AgRural reports that the sowing of second-crop corn has been completed in the central and southern parts of the country, although work in these regions was still underway a year earlier.

“Warm weather and erratic rains are causing concern for producers in the states of Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul. Despite the drop in temperatures in recent days, rainfall is still sparse in both states,” the company added.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) forecasts that Brazil will harvest 155 million tons of soybeans this season (162 million tons in the 2022/23 marketing year) and 124 million tons of corn (137 million tons).
