Ukraine will insist on compensation for damage caused by restrictions on agricultural exports to the EU

Ukraine will insist on compensation for the damage caused by the continuation of restrictive measures on exports of domestic agricultural products to the five Eastern European countries. The Office of Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanyshyna said.

“The Ukrainian side has taken note of the decision of the European Commission. We will monitor their implementation and, most importantly, ensure barrier-free transit of Ukrainian products. Borders should be reopened and measures imposed by individual Member States lifted. We also insist on compensation for the damage caused to Ukraine by the restrictive measures," said Olha Stefanyshyna.

She also recalled that amidst Russia's all-out war against Ukraine, in which the border with the EU is practically the only reliable route for Ukrainian exports, the restriction "is like cutting off the oxygen, the consequences of which are not only in Ukraine, but will also be felt in the EU and at global level”.

“We ask the partners, e.gusato work together to fully resolve and regulate the situation and prevent such a situation in the future," added the Deputy Prime Minister.
