On June 29, Ukraine and the European Union signed an agreement on the transportation of goods by road – the so-called “visa-free transport regime”. I reported about it to the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
As indicated, the signed agreement eliminates the need to obtain the appropriate permits for carrying out bilateral and transit transportation to EU countries by Ukrainian carriers and avoids the ban on exports of Ukrainian products through vehicle checkpoints.
The agreement also provides for measures to simplify the recognition of driver's licenses. Now Ukraine and the EU exempt holders of driver's licenses issued by either party from the requirement to have an international driver's license.
The term of the agreement is 1 year with the possibility of extension and will take effect temporarily from today. In the long term, the agreement will function after all ratification procedures have been completed.
We were able to agree on the conclusion of this agreement in a very short time - negotiations began last autumn. Understanding the difficult logistical situation in Ukraine caused by the blockade of sea ports and damage to transport infrastructure, European colleagues moved synchronously with us and significantly accelerated the process of agreement
