USDA forecast a 21 percent drop in Ukraine's wheat production


The USDA predicts that wheat production will fall by 2023% in 21 compared to the previous year, mainly due to the war with Russia. Against the background of lower production, a decline in exports from Ukraine is therefore expected.

According to the ministry, wheat production in Ukraine will fall in 2023 from 20,9 million tons last year to 16,5 million tons and in 2021 to 33,01 million tons.

The Harvest of Others Grains in Ukraine is likely to drop to 34,06 million tons from 2022 million tons in 28,67.

On average, the following results are predicted: Corn 22 million tons are harvested (2022 it was 27 million tons), Barley – 5,9 million tons (6,18 million tons), Oats – 350 thousand tons (390 thousand tons).

The export of Wheat from Ukraine will be 2023 million tons in marketing year 24/10 compared to 15 million tons in the current year. The bureau also released its forecast for corn exports: a drop of 16,5 million tons is expected, compared to 25,5 million tons in the same period last year.

Recall that according to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ukraine will be able to sow almost as much area this year as in the past. This will allow to grow at least twice as much as Ukrainians consume and keep the export potential of the agricultural sector at last year's level – more than $20 billion.

At the same time, as forecast in the department, farmers will increase the acreage under oil crops and partially reduce under grain and corn.
