The forecast for the Russian wheat harvest has been raised to a new record

The analysis center “SovEkon” has increased the forecast for the wheat harvest in Russia in 2022 by 0,6 million tons to a new record of 89,2 million tons, Interfax reports.

As indicated, the estimate of the areas under the spring wheat increased from 12,1 million hectares to 12,65 million hectares against the background of higher acreage. The estimate of the yield of spring grains also increased from 1,7 tons/hectare to 1,82 tons/hectare, thanks to improved weather conditions, mainly in the Volga and Urals.

The improvement in the prospects for the spring wheat harvest has fully offset the growing problems with the winter wheat harvest, which has dropped from 4 tons/hectare to 3,89 tons/hectare due to the dry and hot weather in the south of the Russian Federation.
