Buckwheat

The export ban on buckwheat from Ukraine will be in effect until the end of the year

the ban, Buckwheat exporting from Ukraine will continue to apply at least until the end of 2022. This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy said on October 19.

By the end of the year, the export ban on buckwheat will clearly apply, whether it will be extended from January 2023, we will understand at the end of November, as the harvest continues. When we see that the forecasted production at 140.000 tons will already be in our barn, it will be possible to talk about something. But there definitely can't be free export.

At the same time, T. Vysotsky noted that Ukrainians need 110 thousand tons of buckwheat for domestic consumption. He also explained why the price decline is slower than predicted.

In September there was an unusually large amount of precipitation and in fact the harvest of all crops was stopped for 2-3 weeks, including buckwheat. In the summer, the crop was expected to be harvested by farmers in September, and by October it will already be on the market. Therefore, the final price effect for the consumer will be reached in November.
