Sunflower processing in Ukraine will decrease by 2022 percent in 23/10

The processing quantities of Sunflowers in Ukraine after the current season can be reduced by 10% per year – up to 10,4 million tons. According to experts, since the beginning of the current year (September to December), local oil extraction companies have processed the minimum amount of seeds from the 2015/16 season – less than 4,5 million tons.

"The main factors slowing down oil processing are the crisis in the country's energy sector, the limits on electricity consumption and the slow delivery of sunflower oil," the statement said.

Experts also pay special attention to export: almost 4 million tons were sold in the first 1,2 months of the current season Sunflowers exported from Ukraine, accounting for half of the forecast for the full year.

"This indicator is uncharacteristically high for the industry, contributes to a significant increase in competition for raw materials, increases prices for them, even if the price of oil demand falls, and as a result, the supply of sunflowers on the market decreases faster," said the analyst of the agency, Svetlana Kirichok.

As for sunflower oil, its export could reach 2022 million tons by the end of 23/4,15 – that is the minimum margin for the industry from 2015/16.
