Kazakhstan will export wheat and barley to Iran

Chairman of the Board of Prodkorporatsiya Asylkhan Juvashev, at a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Kazakhstan Ali Akbar Joukar, discussed the Zusawork in the field of agricultural exports. The Kazakh company is particularly interested in working with Iran Wheat and Barley to deliver. This was reported by the Prodkorporatsiya press service.

As Asylkhan Yuvashev noted, the national company has two subsidiaries in the Caspian region - the grain terminals “Ak Bidai Terminal” in Aktau and “Amirabad Grain Terminal KISH” on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea.

It is worth noting that in 2022 Kazakhstan significantly reduced wheat exports to Iran, delivering only 15,6 thousand tons there. Barley was exported much more - 246.000 tons.

Now Prodkorporatsiya plans to start exporting wheat and barley to Iran. Potential partners are now being selected.

The Prodkorporatsiya did not name the planned amounts. However, Asylkhan Juvashev pointed out at the meeting that the export potential in Kazakhstan is under pressure from the low price of Russian wheat, which causes problems for domestic grain traders.

Ali Akbar Joukar, on the other hand, said that the development of agricultural trade is hampered by the economic sanctions imposed on Iran and the associated payment difficulties.
