Kazakhstan has significantly increased wheat exports to EU countries in 2021/22


According to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, according to the results of the 2021/22 season, 6,1 million Tonnen Wheat exported from Kazakhstan, an increase of 6% over the previous year.

Traditionally, Uzbekistan is Kazakh with 2,8 million tons Grains (15% less than in 2020/21) and Tajikistan with 923,8 thousand tons (5% less) the leading position in the import of Kazakh Wheat. Iran closed the three main importers, which, in contrast, increased imports of Kazakh wheat by 26% to 766,9 thousand tons after the season.

It is also worth noting that in the 2021/22 season Kazakhstan significantly increased wheat deliveries to EU countries (354,3 thousand tons; + 3,5 times). The main customers among the countries of the bloc were Italy (324 thousand tons), Latvia (15,4 thousand tons) and Poland (13,2 thousand tons).

According to the forecast, the export potential of Kazakh wheat in 2022/23 is estimated at 7 million tons, which shows an increase of 15% compared to the previous season.
