In the USA they forecast wheat exports to fall to a minimum for half a century


As Reuters writes, was only 85,7 thousand tons Wheat declared for export within the week ended December 29, which is the lowest weekly indicator since January 1983.

The low levels continued into 2023 — in the week ended January 5, exports totaled 201,67 thousand tons, the lowest this week in more than 40 years.

As the analysts explain, the USA Catched a cold arctic cyclone in late December that affected transport and trade. But the wheat exports were already at record lows due to very weak demand.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) forecasts that wheat exports in 2022-2023 will be minimal 51 years from now at 21,1 million tons (775 million bushels). This volume is 26% lower than in 2016-2017, when the USA were the world's leading wheat exporter last time. The USA are expected to rank 2022th in 2023-10 with a record low of 4% of global shipments.

At the same time, the ministry forecasts an increase in wheat acreage in 2023 to a 7-year high of 34,485 million hectares.
