The French company Avril has announced that it will build an additional processing plant Sunflowers to reduce dependence on imported processing products due to the war in Ukraine, which is the main supplier of products to the EU and currently has significantly reduced supplies of sunflower oil and meal due to Russian aggression, Reuters reports.
It's worth noting that Avril is the tallest Biofuel producer in France and a leader in animal feed, edible oil and chemical products of vegetable origin.
Therefore, against the background of the war in Ukraine, the company plans to increase the processing volume of sunflowers to 1,1 million tons within two years, compared to 700.000 tons today. By then, French farmers are expected to increase the sown area under the sunflower by 30% to 900 thousand hectares.
