According to FranceAgriMer monitoring data, the state of soft wheat stocks in France has been deteriorating for the fourth consecutive week - on June 19, 83% of stocks were in good to excellent state (-2% for the week) and 77% of durum wheat stocks (-4% for the week).
However, current performance is still better than last year's results (64% for common wheat and 60% for durum wheat) and despite the deterioration remains the highest for this season since 2011.
However, rains late last week, which interrupted a hot and dry spell in the country, are expected to ease the stress on crops in northern France.
It is also reported that the country has started harvesting wheat – at the time of reporting, soft wheat has been threshed on 2% of the planned area and durum wheat on 4%, the same as last year.
