The Indian Ministry of Agriculture lowered the forecast for the wheat harvest in 2022

India's Ministry of Agriculture has cut the forecast for the country's wheat harvest this year by 4,4% from the preliminary estimate - to 106,41 million tons, Reuters reports.

Recall that in the February forecast of the Ministry of the harvest of Indian Wheat was expected to be a record 111,32 million tons.

The decline in the forecast is due to a significant rise in air temperature in the country since mid-March, which has reduced grain yields.

At the same time, local market operators expect a more significant reduction in wheat production – up to 100 million tons.

Recall that India has banned wheat exports due to the severe drought in the country and the significant increase in domestic prices. However, the state government then announced a partial relaxation of the wheat export ban.
