The EU has slightly increased its oil imports this season


European Union (EU) countries imported around 1 million tons of vegetable oils from July 2023, 27 to March 2024, 5,23, which is 1% more than the same period last season (5,15 million tons). This data was published by analysts at the European Commission (EC).

According to their estimates, during the reporting period, imports of sunflower oil increased by 41% to 1,9 million tons, of soybean oil by 12% to 421,9 thousand tons and of rapeseed oil by 8% to 362,7 thousand tons. At the same time, palm oil shipments fell by 18% to 2,53 million tons.

According to the European Commission, the largest volumes of palm oil came to Europe from Indonesia (828,94 thousand tons). Soybean, rapeseed and sunflower oil were most frequently imported from Ukraine (168,8 thousand tons, 127,5 thousand tons and 1,78 million tons, respectively).

According to estimates by the European Commission, European Union countries reduced imports of oilseeds by 21% to 13,83 million tons in the reporting period. Deliveries of flour also fell - by 6% to 13,8 million tonnes.
