This week, purchase prices for Ukrainian sunflowers fell by 400-600 UAH/t - to 13800-14500 UAH/t with VAT upon delivery to the factory. The decline is noted against the background of the weakening of global oil and flour prices, reported the electronic grain exchange GrainTrade.
According to available information, demand prices for sunflower oil in Ukrainian ports have already fallen to $730-735 per ton, and for sunflower flour to $155-160 per ton.
“A significant increase in the supply of soybean meal from Argentina and falling prices for feed corn and wheat will continue to put pressure on the prices of sunflower meal and therefore also sunflowers in the near future,” – believe the experts.
They also note that the decline in the cost of Ukrainian sunflower seeds continues despite the active export of sunflower oil. In the first half of the season, shipments of finished product increased by 18,5% to 3,2 million tons.
“The high sales rates are due to the low prices of Ukrainian oil, which is offered cheaper than soy or palm oil. And the increase in the supply of soybean oil on the global market in the coming months will increase the pressure on prices,” said the experts.
