Polish government signs agreement to close border with Ukraine

The Polish government has signed an agreement with farmers to close the border with Ukraine. This is reported by the TV channel Polsat.

The agreements were approved by Agriculture Minister Czeslaw Sikierski and farmers protesting at the border in Medyka. The minister promised to meet all the demands of farmers - introducing subsidies for corn, increasing loans and maintaining agricultural tax at the 2023 level.

After the signing of the agreement, protests at the border crossing in Medyk will be suspended for the period necessary for the amendment of the legislation.

The farmers emphasized that they will bring the agreement to the border by 21 p.m. Kyiv time. It was not specified whether the Medyka-Szehyni border crossing would be reopened today.

On December 27, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called on transport companies not to block the border with Ukraine, even before his visit to Kiev.
