Mexico wants to increase oilseed production in the 2024/25 marketing year

Mexican oilseed production could reach about 2024 thousand tons at the end of the 25/636 season, more than 4% higher than the level of the 2023/24 marketing year (610 thousand tons). This is what analysts from the Foreign Agricultural Service of the US Department of Agriculture (FAS USDA) predict in their report.

As experts note, growth is expected due to a possible increase in the soybean harvest against the backdrop of attractive prices for their sale. Thus, the share of this culture in the structure of national oilseed production in the coming agricultural year could be more than 32% (or 205 thousand tons compared to 185 thousand tons in the 2023/24 season).

According to experts' forecasts, the country's vegetable oil production will increase by 2024% to 25 million tons in the 7/2,216 marketing year. At the same time, imports are expected to increase (by 2,5% to 1,208 million tons), while domestic consumption of this product is expected to increase (by 4% to 3,21 million tons).

According to experts' forecasts, flour production will also increase in the new season, from 5,884 million tons in the 2023/24 marketing year to 6,226 million tons, reflecting the increasing demand for feed in the livestock industry and the greater supply of oilseeds the Mexican market.
