Experts assess the potential of the new grain crop in Russia

This year's harvest of grains and legumes in Russia is expected to be around 135-145 million tons, of which 86 million tons are wheat. This forecast comes from the Central Bank's monthly report on the regional economy, which publishes the results of a survey among enterprises of the agro-industrial complex.

Experts note that the estimates are made “on the basis of winter sowing and plans for spring sowing,” and the expected result will be achieved “under favorable weather conditions.”

In addition, according to the report, a decline in barley production is expected, as well as the production of sunflowers, sugar beets, potatoes and other vegetables. Rapeseed and soybean harvests will increase. The corn harvest is expected to remain at last year's level.

The latest forecast of the ProZerno agency for grain production in Russia in 2024 is 140 million tons (90-91 million tons of wheat), ICAR expects 146 million tons (93 million tons), independent expert Alexander Korbut estimates the harvest 145 million tons (93 million tonnes).
