On Wednesday, August 16, Egypt will launch an international tender for the purchase of Sunflower oil and Soybean oil carry out. This is what market participants report, citing information from the state food procurement agency GASC.
"It is planned to procure soybean oil and/or sunflower oil with immediate payment, within 180 days and within 270 days," the filing states.
According to the terms of the tender, the delivery of the vegetable oil to the importer between September 20 and October 8, 2023.
In addition, on the same day, GASC will hold an internal tender for the purchase of 1,5 thousand tons of vegetable oil (1 thousand tons of soybean oil and 0,5 thousand tons of sunflower oil) with a delivery period from September 15 to October 10 this year.
Sunflower oil accounts for about half of Egypt's cooking oil consumption and is consumed by most households on a daily basis. Domestic sunflower production is low, leaving private processors dependent on imported raw materials.
