Bulgaria does not agree with the simplification of the Ukrainian export procedure for sunflowers

Bulgaria is against the implementation of the decision taken in Ukraine to simplify the export of sunflower seeds to be delivered to the country. This emerges from a letter from Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture and Food Kirill Vatev to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko, VTA reports.

As K. Vatev noted, there were no negotiations with his country on liberalizing and simplifying the licensing regime for the import of sunflower seeds from Ukraine to Bulgaria.

“As Minister of Agriculture and Food of Bulgaria, I work to protect the interests of the Bulgarian agricultural sector and do everything possible to prevent market distortions,” the minister wrote.

At the same time, he pointed out that he appreciated the efforts of the Ukrainian government and welcomed the decision of the Ukrainian government according to which Ukrainian companies that export to Bulgaria without a license will be removed from the list of verified exporters and will not be able to export to third countries for six months .

Also, K. Vatev expressed concern that since the beginning of the practical application of the licensing system (December 4, 2023) until January 21 of this year, according to the Bulgarian customs, 37,934 thousand tons of sunflower oil were exported from Ukraine without authorization and without applying for a license were imported into Bulgaria.

“A copy of the said letter was also sent to Ukrainian Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Mykola Solskiy,” the statement said.
