Argentina's corn harvest is expected to be quite high

According to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, 5 thousand hectares of corn were harvested in Argentina by April 794,8, representing 11,1% of the planned area (+5,4% this week). At this point, 7,36 thousand tons of grain had been threshed with an average yield of 9,26 t/ha - quite a high figure for the early phase of the campaign.

However, the condition of the plants has deteriorated slightly: the percentage of plants in good to excellent condition fell to 22% from 17% the previous week. At the same time, the proportion of plants in normal condition is 51 (versus 53)% and in poor and very poor condition is 32 (25)%. In addition, an increase in leaf beetle infestations on crops is reported and in some regions the lack of regular rainfall has had a negative impact on plant health.

The stock exchange experts have reduced the forecast for the corn harvest in Argentina by 4,5 million tons to 52 thousand tons and do not rule out further adjustment of this estimate.
