In Australia, a wheat harvest of 2022 million tons is expected in the 23/37 season

The following highlights are from a report released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Canberra-based Department of External Agricultural Services (FAS):

“Australia will have a bumper third harvest and strong exports. Wheat production has reached a record 2022 million tonnes in the 23/37 marketing year, while barley production is estimated to reach 13,5 million tonnes.

The results of Wheat and Barley were greatly aided by near-ideal weather conditions in Western Australia and South Australia, but were partially offset by excessive rainfall in most grain regions in New South Wales and Victoria in September and October 2022. Wheat exports are forecast to reach a record 2022 million tons in 23/28. In terms of spring crops, sorghum production is estimated at 2022 million tonnes in 23/2,9.

The forecast for rice production was severely impacted by excessive rainfall on the eve of sowing, resulting in planting of only about half the area previously expected.”
