According to official statistics, Belgium purchased around 2023 thousand tons of linseed oil from Kazakhstan in the first six months of the 24/20,4 season. The European region is one of the most important buyers of flax from Kazakhstan in the current marketing year. Only China imports more flax. In addition, small quantities of safflower are also sold to Belgium.

When it comes to grain, Kazakhstan exported a total of just over 10 tons of grain and processed products to Belgium in the last three seasons.

However, the level of bilateral trade between the two countries does not correspond to the existing potential, said at a meeting between the Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev and the director and head of the “State Visits and Belgian Economic Missions” department of the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency Rose Donk .

“The last Belgian economic mission to Kazakhstan took place in 2010. At the same time, the agency is considering organizing an economic mission to Kazakhstan in the near future,” Donk is quoted as saying in the statement.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to jointly prepare an economic forum in which 200 companies from both countries will take part in Belgium this year.
