Against the background of setting export quotas for Sunflower seeds and sunflower oil, there may be significant transitional residues in Kazakhstan after the 2021/22 season Sunflowers form, the volume of which is 280 thousand Tonnen is estimated to be 28 times the previous season.
Another influencing factor in the formation of spillover oil residues was a significant increase in sunflower imports in Kazakhstan, the volume of which increased 3,6 times compared to the previous season. In the period from September to April 2021/22, 98% of deliveries were made by Sunflower seeds carried out in Kazakhstan from Russia.
Due to the large amounts of oil in the country, the processing of sunflowers is gaining momentum. Thus, since the beginning of the season, Kazakh companies have processed 516 thousand tons of oil, which is 27% more than in the same period of the previous season. This volume is a record high.
As indicated, the volume of processing of sunflower seeds in Kazakhstan in 2022/23 is forecast by analysts at the level of 775 thousand tons. The forecast for post-season production of sunflower oil is estimated at 310 thousand tons.
