In Kazakhstan, the conditions for overwintering winter crops have deteriorated

In Kazakhstan, the conditions for wintering winter crops have deteriorated somewhat. This is evidenced by a brief meteorological review of the first decade of December.

During this period, the temperature background in the south and south-east of the republic in the areas where winter crops were grown was lower than normal, precipitation was mostly lower than normal.

The lowering of the average daily air temperature has resulted in winter wheat vegetation stopping in the observed areas everywhere.

"The decrease in air temperature at night to minus 15-24 °C, places 25-26 °C (Almaty region) in the absence of snow cover in certain locations can lead to freezing of winter crops in the south and south-east of the country," says in the message.
The minimum soil temperature at the depth of the winter lamb ranged from 0 °C to minus 3 °C.

In the West Kazakhstan region, in the areas where winter cereals are grown, there is no stable snow cover, so the low temperature on the surface of the soil (minus 22-24 °C) is dangerous for the winter.

In general, such meteorological conditions are satisfactory for overwintering of winter crops in the south and southeast, and unfavorable in the west of the country, Kazhydromet emphasizes.
