Freight costs for shipping sunflower oil have risen to an all-time high, market sources told US news agency S&P Global Platts.
After the outbreak of the conflict in the Black Sea region, the oil supply chains were broken. Now, for example, the ports of Reni and Ismail, located on the Danube southwest of Ukraine, continue to function, although they do not have the capacity of the larger ports of Chernomorsk and Odessa.
One of the traders told S&P Global Platts that he received a freight rate of $283 per Tonne with shipping from the port of Renee for a cargo of crude sunflower oil weighing 6 thousand Tonnen was offered. As a result, the total cost of freight for this transportation amounted to almost 1,7 million US-Dollar.
Before the conflict, freight rates were in the $30-$50 per ton range. Since then, their size has gradually increased.
