The cost of importing food into Azerbaijan increased by more than 20 percent in January and November


Expenditure on food imports to Azerbaijan in January-November 2022 increased by 22,7% year-on-year to $2,088 billion, reports Interfax-Azerbaijan, citing data from the State Customs Committee of the RA.

As indicated, the main volume in the structure of food imports fell on cereals. So became Wheat imported 1.168 million tons (an increase of 14,8%) for $398 million in the first eleven months of this year, Corn - 61,4 thousand tons (an increase of 2,7 times) for $20,77 million, Rice - 48,2 thousand tons (an increase of 10%) for $40,71 million.

Procurement of vegetable and animal oils during this period is estimated at 132,6 thousand tons (a decrease of 2,5%) for $235,66 million, meat at 38,35 thousand tons (an increase of 5,6%) for $72,2 million and butter at 16,76 thousand tons (an increase of 24,3%) for $96,77 million.

In total, during the reporting period, 16,21% of all imports to Azerbaijan accounted for the share of food.
