Transport through the port of Aktau on the Trans-Caspian route increased by 66 percent

The port of Aktau increased the volume of transport on the Trans-Caspian international transport route by 66% last year. In January-October 2022, this number was 23,8 thousand DFE, reports ElDala.kz, citing the port's press service.

Aktau seaport is located at the crossroads of transport corridors connecting Kazakhstan, Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkey and the Russian Federation.

As previously reported, the flow of cargo on the Trans-Caspian international transport route has increased sharply in the current year. In order to increase transit volumes in the Trans-Caspian direction, work is being done on container transport via seaports. The Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan is working on expanding the infrastructure of the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk. In particular, the issue of developing a container center based on the port of Aktau is being worked on. It is planned to invest 10,4 billion tenge in it. In addition, the construction of a multifunctional sea terminal «Sarzha» in the port of Kuryk is planned by 2025.
