The pace of Russian grain exports in September is significantly lower than last year

According to Russian Grain Union monitoring, Russia has 1,323 million in the first decade of September Tonnen Wheat exported, which is 28,3% less than in the same period last year. The shipment of Barley during this period was reduced by 41% to 133,5 thousand tons, Corn by 67% to 10 thousand tons.

According to Elena Tyurina, head of the analytical department of the Russian Grain Union, the decrease in exports is primarily due to the reduction in shipments to Turkey.

They fell by 440 thousand tons, or by 72%, and this can be explained by the replacement of Russian grain by Ukrainian under the “Grain Agreement”.

At the same time, Egypt is increasing the procurement of Russian Grains and the export geography is expanded overall.

A large batch - more than 53 thousand tons - is delivered to Djibouti, exports to Pakistan, Tunisia and Algeria are stable. And Algeria replaces the French one Wheat and buys the Russian one. This trend has been actively observed since the end of last season.

However, she said that the situation with shipments to the countries of Central and South Africa, to which the Russian one, is changing Grains has not yet been delivered since the beginning of 2022/23, has not yet changed.

There are no shipments to Mozambique, although 52.000 tons of wheat were sent there a year ago. A year ago, 70 thousand tons were exported to Nigeria and 40 thousand tons to Congo, this year there are no deliveries to these countries. This is due to increasing logistics costs, with a limited supply of ships. The fact that Turkey drastically increased fees for the passage of ships through the Bosphorus also played a role.
