Analysts at the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange raised their forecast for Argentina’s corn acreage in MY 2024/25 from 6.3 million hectares to 6.6 million hectares.
At the same time, the estimate of soybean area sown in the country was reduced from 18.6 million hectares to 18.4 million hectares. The said reduction, according to experts, is due to the fact that against the background of low prices for oilseeds local agrarians are looking for alternatives to soybean cultivation.
It is also specified that at the beginning of January 81% of the planned areas were sown with corn in Argentina, while soybean – almost 85%.
As for wheat, which has already been harvested on 89% of areas, its harvest is expected at the level of 18.6 million tons.
