There are currently more than 800.000 Tonnen Wheat in the ports of Egypt, which importers cannot receive due to the lack of currency in the country. This was stated by Walid Diyab, a member of the Grain Branch Chamber of the Industrial Union of Egypt, reports Prime.
According to the expert, the current situation has already led to a decrease in supply on the domestic market and, as a result, an increase in food prices, including bread and pastries.
As Walid Difrom said, the chamber has already sent letters to state bodies to solve this problem, but the decision on the distribution of dollars is made by the Central Bank of Egypt.
The measures previously announced by the Central Bank to ease restrictions have helped us secure contracts and obtain goods at ports. But now we need Dollarto receive this cargo.
