The Ukrainian hryvnia is the official currency of Ukraine. The currency is issued and managed by the National Bank of Ukraine. The hryvnia became the national currency in 1996. The hryvnia is abbreviated as UAH on the foreign exchange market. It is written гривня in Ukrainian and abbreviated as грн. The hryvnia uses the currency symbol ₴.
