CWT

« Back to Glossary Index

CWT is a unit of weight or mass used specifically in the United States and Canada. It stands for “hundredweight” and is equal to 100 pounds (lb) or 45.36 kilograms (kg). The hundredweight used to be a common unit of weight in the British imperial system, but in most countries it has been largely replaced by the metric system. However, it is still used in some industries such as agriculture, construction and transportation, particularly in North America.
