Since May 5, the import of sunflower seeds and Corn Banned from eight shipping locations in several delivery countries to Russia: Turkey, Germany, France, Hungary and Kazakhstan. This is reported by the press service of Rosselkhoznadzor.

“This measure was taken in Zusammenhang with the identification of objects in quarantine seeds for the Russian Federation and the member states of the EAEC adopted. These are sunflower fomopsis, corn leaf spot, corn diplodiosis and mugwort ragweed," the agency's materials said.

The proliferation of these quarantine objects can cause severe damage to domestic agriculture. It is noted that the shipping locations of the companies “Syngenta”, “Limagrain”, “Lidea”, “Mas Seeds”, etc. were in the «prohibited» list.

Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said yesterday that Russia's self-sufficiency in grain and oilseeds is 105% and 107%, respectively.

"The ministry in recent years has focused on the development of seed breeding for business needs: the result of this work was the inclusion in the state register of five new corn hybrids in 2023, tailored to the needs of producers," noted Patrushev .
