In India, weather conditions have had a negative impact on crop yields and led to a shortage in the domestic market. Therefore, the duty-free import of yellow Peas continued until October 31, 2024. The possibility of duty-free delivery of peas to India opens up favorable prospects for Ukrainian producers.
This opinion was expressed by the head of the Ukrainian Legume Association Antonina Sklyarenko.
Global demand for Ukrainian yellow peas will remain stable until the end of the year, while prices will increase. For the 2024 Ukrainian pea crop, prices are at least $325 per Tonne to be expected. In anticipation of higher demand and higher prices on the global market, Ukrainian farmers have already expanded the areas under cultivation of this crop,” she said.
In Ukraine, peas are estimated at 161 thousand Hektar sown, but the actual indicators of the cultivated areas are higher, according to the association.
According to Antonina Sklyarenko, the coming season promises to be successful for pea producers, as global demand for the grown legume is secured at affordable prices.
It is worth remembering that Ukraine will supply almost the entire amount of peas grown to foreign markets.
